The new installment in the Diablo franchise will feature new developments in the performance, gameplay, and story of the game. This article will look at what Diablo 3 has in store for us.
Diablo III is in the same isometric view as the other games. However, leaps in the graphic engine allow the game to have a 3D-environment.
Five classes will be available. So far only four classes have been revealed (Barbarian, Monk, Wizard, Witch Doctor) with the Barbarian the only character from the previous games. The last class will be revealed at this year’s Blizzard Convention.
Diablo III allows people to change gender for each class. Blizzard has also increased the maximum level to 100 instead of the usual 99. An interesting change will make higher level characters see items available for them that lower level characters won’t.
Players may be allowed to correct any skills allocation they might make. A good improvement from the previous games’ adamant in the skills and stats allocation which frustrates players whenever they click on the wrong skill or stat. The correction may be available through an in-game item or a gameplay option.
Speaking of stats, players will no longer be able to customize where their stat point goes. When a character levels up, the stat points will automatically increase. The customization aspect will now revolve more on items and armor.
Runes will play a bigger role in Diablo 3. They will no longer be combined with weapons. Rune words will not be completed. They now work together with how the character is customized. Runes and Skills can be combined to create a different effect or increase damage. A tweet from Blizzard ruminates an effect of one Wizard skill when combined with a rune.
Monster and other enemies will use a different system making them more unpredictable and deadly. Mini bosses will be a staple making the game more exciting. The new monsters will also have additional skills and abilities making more interesting time when disposing them. Abilities include, blocking, climbing walls and varied attack patterns.
Deaths, the trick and trade of Diablo 3 will be more spectacular than ever. A more powerful game engine creates unique death animations. Critical hits will produce different deaths and characters killed by bosses will die differently than regular deaths.
Players won’t have to play Rubik’s cube with the inventory anymore. It will be similar to WoW with the one slot per item inventory.
The stash will accommodate more items and possibly expandable. Blizzard took a cue from other MMORPG’s to allow characters of the same account to exchange items.
Item drop will now be fair to all characters. The drops will only be seen by the character to which it belongs to.
Players will be surprised at the potion changes. The two iconic circles in the user interface will be replaced. Health Globes will replace the potion system, while the skill bar will take the place of the Belt.
A new system for trading will be implemented. Most probably it will be similar to the auction house in the World of Warcraft. This is particularly useful for online play.
